Being Green

What being green really means!

We are in the beginning of the movement that will shape our future and change the way we live. Things are slowly evolving, and if you are reading this page it means you are one of the people that care.

It is has been very profitable for companies to make all kinds of "green" claims. But a recent report says that the general public is getting confused and experiencing what's being called "green backlash". Marketing can be confusing and misleading and people are understandably getting frustrated. They want the cheat sheet and to be told what is right, but the truth is, in many cases we don't know what the right thing is yet. However........ we do know a few things for sure. GoodOnYa is trying, one step at a time, and with every decision we make as a company to do our best. We want to make less of a footprint and do the right thing now, and as we grow. See What We Do below for a list of some of the things we are doing.

We realize that creating a new product, The GoodOnYa bar, and operating 4 cafes, we are contributing to this mess we are in. However, it will be companies like us that take this country into the next phase of consumerism. We can do it in ways that actually make positive impact. For example, there are too many foods in the world that are damaging to the environment and to your health. Eventually the unhealthy, processed foods that are packaged in plastic made from petroleum will be replaced by natural, organic whole foods. It's up to you to support those companies that are on the forefront of this change. See our Companies We Love link.

One of the most important things for the environment is to eat organic. Conventional farming methods destroy top soil and pollute our waters. We need to avoid the unnecessary pollution caused by chemical fertilizers and pesticides. There are people now saying organic farming is bad for the environment because it takes up to much land and doesn't produce enough food. I say this is just ridiculous and we just need to stop super sizing everything. We all need to find a way to do the right thing and it's going to mean changing a lot of the things we do.

What we do:

  • Banned plastic bags from our cafes. Please click here to see how much YOU can impact the world starting today.

  • Use vinegar and water as the main cleaner in our cafes instead of harsh soaps.

  • Reuse all shipping/packing material when we mail our GoodOnYa bars.

  • Banned coffee sleeves from our cafe.

  • Buy from companies, like us, that have the same ideals. It's going to take all of us together to make the impact that is needed.

  • Buy only organic ingredients for our GoodOnYa bar and support companies that have taken the time, effort and money to become certified. But also support companies that are sustainable and local who might not yet be able to afford to get certified but are following organic practices.

  • We use a cutting edge wrapper made from a sustainable source of wood and veggies. We are very proud to be one of the first companies to use this break though material to wrap our precious bars. Plastic is made from petroleum, enough said!
